I started doing something constructive and cut the end cap
I started cutting all the plates out for the firebox and dcman was cleanin up the slag and grinding the edges.
The Polar Bear was on hand to do some camera work and while he was there he shot the video we published called "Just Another Saturday" It is on the main page of the Blog.
dcman cutting off the rigging hooks. Smokeone was getting his build Blasted while the blaster was there.
Built the Firebox and attached it, made the damper guides and mounted the door.
Built the stand, cut the CC Door, Mounted the hinges and the handle
Installed the counter weight
More pics are still uploading. I will post them soon....
That 30x43 would make a wicked little vertical unit. I have always liked that squatty look. hmmm ... evidently I can relate to the dimensions. fat humor .. only appropriate when cracking on ones self.
If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone
Man that is exactly what I had envisioned. Before I decided to go with a full blown trailer build that was what I was shopping for size wise (chuckwagon size). At the time I wasn't thinking vertical but now I can see the possibilities.

all primed and wet sanded. Due to that the local Lowe's does not carry Valspar Hight temp paint and primer... (maybe Solo can help me figure something out here....) I used Rustoleum 2000*F primer.
Painted it with the Quart Can Rustoleum 1200*F Satin Black Paint thinned 5% with acetone sprayed with the gravity feed gun
Pull around Handle
Hatchet Handle and 2 Tel-Tru Thermo's
3 removable racks
I used Kam's Wedge style handle for the first time... I really like it! Thanks for the idea kam!!
Log rack and "Easy Clean" Door Jam
Screw out stack damper
That's it for now... I will post more pics when the hickory comes in.
And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy.
Current smokers: Egor (trailered RF) and Easybake (tabletop pellet drive)
Love the ax handle handle. The quality and finish makes me want to build again and take my time and TRY to make a smoker that looks that nice. Great design and great job.
