Hi all!

Post by Thundermedic » October 9th, 2012, 11:27 pm

Hello everybody. Glad to be a part of the community. A good buddy and I are getting into the whole BBQ gig and we are just beginning our decent down the rabbit hole of pit building and Q-ing. I would like to start small with a UDS build and then work my way up to building an RF. Looking forward to picking a few brains about how to get the best results. Cheers.

You'll love the UDS. Mine serves me well. So much, I'm in no hurry to get started on a bigger one.

Welcome! Out of all the pits I have and have built I still have a drum and cook on it from time to time. I love it!

Come to think of it. A buddy of mine is building a big trailer mounted cooker (that he's been slacking on) with all the bells and whistles, that's not quite done. So he asked me last week to use my UDS for a cook he has this weekend.

Thanks guys. I acquired 3 closed-top drums from the shop at the ambulance company I work for. Those are becoming UDS's for myself and two buddies. I thought I would have those done before building the big trailer pit, but a tank fell into my lap and we just burned out the big tank last night after cutting the lid our of it. Guess the UDS's will have to wait. We have an old utility trailer that the big pit will go on. Now to hit the hardware store for all of the internals.
