Lot's of fun! smells great! the funny thing is we are burning Pecan wood to make hickory charcoal :huh:
The hickory was already chunked up tho.....

You guys are awesome! ...every time I burn pecan all I get is pecan ash... :headwall:

awesome pics DC!
Now we are at 5 hour ish mark. the inner barrel is closed up and the Bung is capped. the only open holes are in the bottom of the drum. Now you can see the OutGassing happening. the gasses from the lump are building up pressure inside the inner drum and shooting out the bottom holes. the gasses are then ignited by the fire under the drum and burnt off. really a cool sight to see at night.

the first time I did it, it was more fun than cost effective. this time tho it took around 10 hours and about 3-20" long by 8" or so thick logs split into 1/8 splits. the yield was 3/4 full 30 gallon drum full of lump. all big chunks.
overall I think it was a lot of fun! :beer:

So did you have to mind it the whole time? Or just feed it while you were doing other stuff?

we just fed the fire bout once per hour while workin on S1's build and cookin and stuff.

speaking of S1's build,,,,,,, have ya got the new plans for the bigger way cooler new smoker builder shop yet. Winters coming and ur gonna have to get that beast indoors soon,
