I should probably adhere a bit closer to the teachings of cricketology but I usually have an opinion. Anyways, I'm pondering putting out a craigslist want ad for one of these spheres. Heck it can sit in the back corner of the yard until I'm ready for it but I'm guessing it aint gonna be an easy find. Any thoughts on an accurate description which I can post? Gallons or original purpose? I read where it was 40 ish in diameter but that wont suffice by itself.

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone

I'd call the local propane route driver and ask him ... :-c

Hey Mac you were dead on, that is a metal bouy not a propane cylinder. That fact might have already been shared earlier in the thread but now I can start digging for a bargain. Those beasts come in 54, 40 and 28 diameters. Talk about a magnum pizza oven. You could put 3 sets of doors on the 54 model with partial sub walls to prevent total heat loss from the other chambers when you opened one of the sets. OK, that came out of left field but that's how my brain jumps time every now and then. :kewl:

I always thought one of those spheres would be cool as a patio model on 3 legs about 2 foot off the ground and 3 doors so you work a single grate from 3 directions with a center short stack out the top and a center trap door in the bottom for a clean out.

You would think the "Mother Ship" just landed ... :)

Barbequed "Aliens" ... :D

You could even post a pic of it on our new "Area 51" ...

I crack myself up ... =))

ok I'll shut up now ...

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

NICE,,,,, I love it,

Hard to tell in the pics, but how close are ya on tolerance. It looks perty tight in the pics but it may just be the pic angle.

I am learning the hard was about the expand and contract deal while I am cooking.

Done some adjustments on baffle. Was pretty tight. I cut it on a Esab cutting table so it was perfect fit. Got probable .020-.025 around. Maybe wont be too tight.

There's an expansion formula to calculate that ... but I'm too stupid to help you with that ... a machinist could though ... :D

...and LOOKS GREAT! ... can't wait to see this one come together!

Put on door handle, stack cap with rod and plate inside for the "reverse flow" effect.
