How do you preheat them?

Lay them on the top the firebox. The preheat helps them light easier and cuts down on some of the nasty smoke. If I add two splits, I lay the next two on the box, until it is their turn.

Hope that helps.

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

Frank I never really kept track of cost, probably a mistake in hindsight. I'm finally putting the wood bin on it and will be cooking again this weekend

Does anyone know if you HAVE to have trailer lights if you can see the truck lights? I'm wanting to pull the smoker tomorrow and not sure of the laws

Great looking build! Don't know about Oklahoma, but in Texas you have to have the lights and reflectors on the trailer even if the towing vehicle lights are visible and the trailer has to be registered. :rulz:
