Check It Out! New Pit Calculator!

Post by alleyrat58 » December 21st, 2012, 10:52 pm

Frank and I have been working diligently for the past couple of months :-ss to design, build, and release our very own pit calculator for Smokerbuilder.com. :jocomp: The first iteration offers much of the same functionality as the old calculator but with a completely redesigned user interface which incorporates newer technology. :-B We still have a laundry list of features we will be adding, but please let us know your thoughts on this version so we can make it better and more usable.

:ymapplause: :-q \:D/ [-x

...and (drum roll please) :-w :-w here is the link!
http://www.smokerbuilder.com/pitcalc/

The link has also been updated on the board index page. B-)

Looks sleek.

Perhaps it is a good idea to add in what units the inputs are, like gallons and inches. Especially for us metric guys ;)

This has got to be one of the most ADVANCED pit calcs I have ever seen ... WOW!

Using some of my older cooker designs as examples, I ran their numbers through in the standard meglinations/tuits and the calculator came back with furlongs per fortnight...

THEN it said I should consider a different hobby far away from smoker building .... Perhaps knitting ...

Sheeesh! - I've been kicked out of nicer places than THIS! :D

Seriously ... Really love the calculator guys THANKS! :kewl:

A NOTE TO OUR MARRIED MEMBERS:

tell the wife, "Remember that special $400 barbeque cooker calculator I wanted for Christmas? - well I found one I can use for free on this really cool website!"

It was worth it to see the look of relief on her face... just sayin' :D

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D

Big Vin - thanks, I'll add that to our list.

I just used it to figure out my fire box on the 350 and it's calculations were stuningly close to mine. Give or take 15 to 20 inches. Job well done.

That is a great looking Calculator. Maybe you could add a square chimney shape? Some of us are just odd balls and don't want the same thing others have. I think that you guys have done a great job.

Is that thing supposed to be smoking like that?

Either that or just a way to direct enter our stack's cross sectional area so it doesn't have to deal with the trig...

Square tubing? No big deal. I'll get 'er on the list.

Thanks, Caveman!
