I built this for a friend who gave it as a present to a co-worker... A bunch of coworkers got together and bought it for him as he brings them smoked food 1-2 times a week so really it was a no brainer for them to pitch in a few bucks!!!

I talked to the owner last week and he LOVES it. He said it works great... The three things he would change are that there is no damper. This is usually not a problem except when it is really windy and it sucks the heat out the stack. Second thing was that when pouring charcoal in the firebox to get it started I did not have a lip to keep the charcoal from rolling off the grate and under the grate on the rounded side. The third thing was no easy way to remove ashes. He also said it works better if he keeps a pile of ash on the bottom vs keeping it totally cleaned out. He said it holds temp really well.

I think the wall thickness was just under 1/4 inch.

I am going to build MY smoker starting tomorrow. Hopefully I can get it done in a week or two... I am going for a little bigger(2x3 ft racks) with a square firebox. Other than that it will be VERY similar to this build.

Should I start a new thread or append to this one? Probably start a new one.

Glad he liked the build.
Can't wait to see the next one. :yth:

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

Onesquin

Newbie here. I have an identical tank and am wanting to do the same concept. One question, how much do your tanks overlap? (CC and FB) I was thinking 6-8 inches. Thanks. Great Job!!!
