the mini me rf

Post by johnney » December 29th, 2012, 12:01 am

Got it started tonight. Stripped the air tank, compressor, and lp tank down. I know I don't have pics right now, but will try to get some tomorrow. Gonna be a fun build I think. Well I hope

What size tank are you building?

Is that thing supposed to be smoking like that?

Not quite sure. I have a 29 gallon compressor tha I use and it's a lot bigger than that. Is there a formula I can use to find out?

Yep,

How to find the volume of a cylinder
Although a cylinder is technically not a prism, it shares many of the properties of a prism. Like prisms, the volume is found by multiplying the area of one end of the cylinder (base) by its height.

Since the end (base) of a cylinder is a circle, the area of that circle is given by

Multiplying by the height h we get

where:
π is Pi, approximately 3.142
r is the radius of the circular end of the cylinder
h height of the cylinder

Formula is Pi x R2 (r x r) x H = Area of a cylinder

The cool thing is that if you are using the site's pit calculator all you'll need to do is select "cylinder" shape and then fill in the length and diameter everything else will take place in the background for you.

If it can't be smoked .... try frying it. It that don't work, it's probably best just left alone

Isn't that cute! Lol

So how do I translate the pit calculator? I did a rough guesstimate and not sure what to make of it

OK, so I've been slacking. Its been cold and the kids have been not nice. Figures, can't bribe them with Santa right now. But I have the air tank cut and plugged, the lip tank cut and getting ready to cut the air compressor. Probably tomorrow. Seems I'm going to a hockey game tonight... wtf
And I will add pics, just don't have them ready.

is there a rating plate on the tank somewhere or a stamp on it? usually you will see a number followed by W.C. for air compressors and propane tanks. this means water capacity i gallons.

Just looked. Nothing on the lines of what you described, frank. Date, HP, cfm, and a serial or something like that. I know its bigger than the 29 gallon air compressor I use now and smaller than my usd, which is 55 gallon.

Kind of like a diaper blow out, but thick like peanut butter lol. Came out easy enough with a 6 inch plaster knife. Gonna let it air dry before I try a burn. Kind of glad I didn't have a torch for the cut, don't know if its flammable.

Looks cool. Theres 231 cubic inches in a gallon so just divide your volume in cubic inches by 231

It makes more sense now that I found the difference between radius and diameter...about 45 gallons. That will make a decent cooker
