Ain't that the truth?!?

DANG! .... I measure those things 4 times - tack them - and measure 'em 3 more times ... Sheesh!

... they're worse than hanging a door .... :D

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D

Looking good, ken!
Racks look spot on to me.

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

Great looking build, very clean.

I would be very interested to see more pics of the racks and shelving ... I need to help trunk slammer build his racks and glides.

Was planning to use the left over 16 ga we have and bend something similar to what you have done.

New backwoods clone build

Post by KenV » March 3rd, 2013, 1:59 pm

Got a little more done today, I've only been able to work on it and hour or two just a couple days a week until now.
Be inside skin is installed and now I need to start cutting out my middle wall panels.
The welding isn't my best but really had to skip around to keep from distorting too much.

No stainless, all black steel although when I got 1/4" steel for the diverter I had to check it, it looked a lot like stainless.
Here is a pic of my favorite machine at the shop and a pic of part of the fab area for the you suck guys, lol.

My wife doesn't quite understand my excitement over this but I knew you guys would.
This is my 4 x 4 sheet of 1/8" stainless for the water pans for the clones. It cost me a whopping $40!!!!Image

New backwoods clone build

Post by KenV » March 5th, 2013, 5:37 pm

Working on bringing the 2nd clone up to speed with the first. Another day and I'll have some new pics up.
I can't wait to cut up the stainless and get the water pans built.
A question for the welding pros. I would really like to introduce my son to TIG welding on the stainless but am afraid the 1/8"Stainless would warp pretty good from the heat instead of MIG Welding it, What say you?

Thats gonna be a queston for TQ. My son did scratch start tig with a 10 minute trainer on 16 or 18 gauge stainless a year or so ago. Looked like a pro, held him smart ass arms high in the air while welding. There is a video on here somewhere.

Got the middle skin on one of them all tacked And then the disaster happened, I ran out of gas! Since this is not going to be seen I think I will finish it off with my flux core.
