:LG:

Things are coming along nice, looking at your pictures I didn,t see that you are protecting against drippings runing back into your fire box from your CC. And some sort of drain for the CC.

Keep up the good work.

Yep - what RC said ...

Or ... you can put in a level BP and foil it each time then toss the foil after every cook ... at least that's how Edgar works and no drain is needed... to each his own ... :D

I am still adding a reverse flow plate into it so i havent gotten that far yet and was gonna add a pipe with a ball valve on it for all the drippings and stuff.. Also was going to make the plate bolted in so you remove it to get to that bottom and clean it out if need be.

But in the mean time i have gotten some more work done and here are some pictures of what was done.. Sorry crappy pics for now camera on the phone sucks

Thanks we just gotta finish insulating and skinning the bottom of it .. but figured mine and well and try and get a test fire in it to see how it works.. and it got up to temps without issue using an undersized fire basket (pulled it from my UDS). So now only a few more pieces to add to it but we are finally starting to see the finish line.

smokeinnj wrote:Rick thanks i actually already googled it and found it and yeah my stuff is WAYYY off.. so i have to rework the numbers for the dimension again.

For adding a firebox do you think 2'x2' too larger should i cut that back to 1'6"x1'6" and then slide the box on over 6 inches at that point along with lowering the height of the chamber from 4'to 3' feet i should be more within the pit calcs ranges.
I built a 500 gallon rf smoker that was 37 wide and almost 10 feet long and I used a 20" x 27" long firebox which everybody said was way too small But it worked perfectly. I cou ld run it low and slow and also run the temps really high if needed. To me your fir box is a good siz.

Having a liberal along is like losing two good men.

So wish me luck all .. we do our first test cook in it this weekend.. i have ran about 4 fires through it so far.. holds temps way better then i thought it would with 2 pieces of wood in it the temps where reaching way over 300 so ill be dampering it back more and hoping to get my goal of 200-250. There will be plenty of photos to come..
