Smokin' in Roanoke, VA

Post by smokeinthenoke » March 17th, 2013, 7:42 am

Hey everyone,

I've been Grilling and BBQing since I was 15 (I'm 25 now). Now I'm finally in the process of building (with help) my own custom smoker. I've gotten tons of ideas from this forum, so I thought I should join, say thanks to all of you, and share my build! Hopefully I can add to the knowledge pool and help other newbies like me. I also want to network and find out what other BBQers are in my area. I want to get in the competition scene eventually, but I'm having trouble finding competitions in my area. There seems to be a KCBS bubble around the southwest VA region. What's up with that? Anyway, I look forward to learning more and sharing ideas with all of you.

I have checked out your build, that will be nice. If you aren't already, the addiction will get you. :-)

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

Oh, It's definitely got me! My plan is to take some welding classes eventually so I can do the next build 100% on my own. Plus I've always thought that could be a useful skill to have.
