Going to try and paint the smoker on Sat. Then finish the trailer. Plan is to have the trailer red to match my truck. Plans have been altered before but I hope that's how it works out.
Ran it for about 4 hrs today. If gauges are correct over 250 for 2hrs then sprayed with cooking spray. About 10 or 12 degrees diff under 250 a little more as it got hotter. Is this good or should i expect more even temps.
Smurf 10 or 12 degree variance is great, brother if someone cannot cook on that they need to come to alabama and get some lessons from TQ heck 20 degrees dont bother me i just cook till it is done then I eat!!!!!! If that variance of temp bothers them They or OCD!!!!!! You have done an excellent job, and I mean excellent!!!!!!! There are +s and -s on gauges they are not perfect. I work in a refinery with the best TI's ( temperature indicators) known to man and guess what " they ain't perfect" there is a tolerance to everything I am done..... kinda like thin blue smoke come to tha south and all the Q joints have white smoke coming out of them chimneys and the Q is excellent pff gimma me a break!!!! i am really done now DC you stay out of it
Let me say this some of the Q is good in the South..... Cause some people just can't cook perio
Man that looks great. The visors over the gauges look cool. Paint is over rated, it is just hiding the excellence:) Having said that good luck painting today.
As far as a non digital therm....I think Tru Tel seems to be the most accurate,...and the only reason Mike thinks paint it overrated is cause he's scared to paint his!
I believe I read that the Tel Tru's that can be calibrated have a set screw where the lump is on the back of the gauges. However I did see one guy say he has uses both fixed ones and calibratable ones and he prefers the fixed ones because he though the others got knocked out of adjustment with about every move. I saw it on the Internet so it must be true.
So I must have missed something - does the stack plug into the elbow that I'm looking at?
Calibration instructions come with the gauges on the funnypapers.
And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy.
Current smokers: Egor (trailered RF) and Easybake (tabletop pellet drive)
smurf correct me if i am wrong but 4 inch schedule 40 pipe should measure 4.5" OD when the schedule changes on12" and unde the ID changes. Pipe after 12 " starts measureing tru OD
IE 14"=14 od 16"=16od and on and on. Just my experience!!!! Your rig looks awesome!!!!!!
Thanks S1. TQ you are right about the pipe. 4" sch. 40 is 4.5od with a wall thickness of .23 so id is just a hair over 4". The stack is diesel pipe 4"od so it just slides into the 4" sch. 40. Clear as mud right?
