test run on teammates new rig

Post by bigbook » April 8th, 2013, 7:14 pm

we tried out his new rig with ribs, pork butts and chicken found a few flaws, stack to small, fire box intake to small , fire grate not elvated to allow air flow underneath , butt it is a work in progress as a friend of his built it as a test before he goes crazy cranking them out . I did tell him of this site and the pit calc. so m,aybe that will help him smooth out the kinks .

That is a neat looking rig there!

And "tuning" them is half the fun! :D

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D

its 24 deep 24 high and 48 long cooking area . 24 x22x16 fire box too thin metal i think not even 1/8" will get him some fire brick to help hold heat .

Nice looking set up. Tuning is the fun part, just look at all them samples! :grillin:

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

I was looking for the stack in the pics, just to see how small it was compared to what I was thinking it should be. I couldn't see one at all. It does look like a nice shape and style.
