Hey TQ, Have a question for you....I am getting my 120 RF trailer/patio build going and need a little advice. The trailer is exactly 8' x 44"( this does not include 4 foot tongue ) with a cut-out in the rear center for the firebox, copy of your design, and I am stuck trying to decide where to place axle. I used the normal formula but it seemed like it should be further back. Since the fire box and cooking chamber are more toward the rear, should I place the axle further back than 4'8"??? I had thought you had placed one of yours further back than the norm. thanks again

Yes I would move axel back I step my cookers into the frame and when I get the desired tongue weight I mark it or tack it in place. The desired tongue weight for me is by feel I do not want to bust a gut picking the front end up . Tongue weight is way overrated in my opinion I have built many trailers both cookers and other custom rigs and all of pull great. Just make sure your tongue Nd frame is square with the axel . I desire to get it within 1/8" corner to corner but 1/4" ain't the end of the world either

I personally go about 38 inches from frame to end of trailer tongue it is all about preference

When your talking about 38 inches from frame to end of trailer tongue....are u talking about the tongue length? Probably dumb question but wanted to clarify. Also, are those 12 or 13" tires and whrrls? Thanks again or the help bud

those are 12" on my last smaller trailer.... On your build I would go 13" And yes that is to the end of tongue from frame on the 38"
