howdy all im john from southeast kansas my dad smokes and a close family friend does as well they bolth have gave me some good tips to get started and i have a big old 2 tear grill i want to convert into a smoker well i thought it was big till i seen some of the smokers on here lol wondering what you guys think

Welcome kansashunter!

No reason you can't make a cooker out of that. I can't tell - is it rolled steel or cast? Cast would be tougher to work with.

If it were me I would get familiar with the pit calculator on this site and start running numbers through it until you know what you need for a firebox and layout.

It won't cost you anything and drawing it up won't either - MEASURE TWICE/BUY ONCE … is what I always say sometimes… :D

well thanks for the welcomes and i ran the numbers through the pit calculator and i need a fire box that is 4800.00 cubic in i was gunna build one from scratch at work but i cought wind of a old boy i now that said he has a old small air compressor tank that i could have so i was gunna mod that into one what do you guys think about doing that good or bad idea i think he said it was a 20 gallon

Go for it! Free is a great price - even if you have to mod it a little. Gives the cooker more character too… :D

Go for it....just keep in mind that thinner metal is a little more tricky to work but can work out !!
