I dont use it in my cookers, some people do and they are still around. Burns hot, but anything that you can bury in the ground and it doesn't rot. well ??? ;)

I don't think it's flavor would be all that appealing but the heat output is prolly okay to use - if it isn't the only wood you're burning…. sometimes a guy just happens into a wood that needs to be tried. Trying and adding to our wood chart on here is the whole idea - we all get smarter …. even about bugs…
