Thanks Clover. Realized it was rude of me to not give more detail. I got into smoking about 3 years ago, as I said on the El Cheapos. My wife and I attended a comp in Lake Elsinore, Ca Dec 31, 2012/Jan 1,2013 and helped out in the judges tent. i was already hooked, but this hooked her too. Joined KCBS abd CBBQA, cooked that Feb. at the CBBQA Q-fest (annual California awards banquet) and met a lot of encouraging folks. Got our judges ticket punched and have done about 10 to date, including Stagecoach. I wanted to jump right in and compete, but she talked me into judging for a year first. Smart woman I got there!!!
On my home built tripe drum we recently cooked a backyarder in Ontario Ca. 7th overall, 3rd in open with fajitas, 5th in ribs, 9th in chicken, 9th in sauce, and 15th in hot links. Not bad, considering at least 4 teams had cooked pro before and we beat them. How many first timers get 5 out of 6 top to calls? Encouraged and excited by this, she gave the go ahead to start pro 1-1-14. We look forward to meeting all the good folks on the circuit!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome! I'll come 'round as often as I can and see if I can help, but I learned a lot just listen to what you guys had to say so I would most likely be repeating your answers. The best advice I can give on anything is dont take it so serious, have fun.

I only take it serious up to the point where I bust out laughing at myself… very therapeutic
