using scrap metal on UDS build...

Post by Lowej82 » September 29th, 2013, 10:34 pm

Anyone see any problems with using the angle iron from bed frames on the outside of my UDS build?

im looking to use it to build a shelf off of each side and a frame on bottom of the uds for casters. Trying to keep it as close to free as possible and realized I had brand new bed frame in the box under my bed, theres at least 20' of it and I cant use 2 frames for the bed at once.

And WE won't tell her neither! :D

The biggest pain will be cleaning the paint off everytime you go to weld it …. :BDHorse:

Well..... I wont be the one doing the welding, I will have to measure and cut everything and try to have all the paint grinded off the areas that will be welded. I didnt even even think about the paint.

You know I used some of this stuff as angle iron before for whatever the reason. But after I welded it in place, I found it to be very hard to drill. I don't know much about it, but if you don't need to drill in it you will be fine.
