Pulse mig and sub arc

Post by Blazer » October 11th, 2013, 6:36 pm

I know this has nothing to do with building a smoker but I hope you find this interesting.

18'' flange 18''x16'' reducer 16'' pipe schd. 80. The root has been already been ran with stt mig and then ground and wire wheeled, now I'm running the hot pass in with pulse mig.

Then I start stacking them in.

Inside, you need at least 1/4 of weld before the sub arc or bad things happen.

I did run one more bead on the right side of this weld

Finished.

I think I saw a Fireman who put one of those flanges on his UDS, so it is smoker building related. Just kidding. Cool stuff, we use those welders back home building high pressure vessels for refineries.

Current Smokers: Backyard RF Offset and Hybrid RF Offset trailer rig with Cowboy cooker and fish fryer, always room for more........
