Good job fellas! I had told my wife the smoker I was building was going to be a patio build. When she heard me tell a buddy of mine it weighs about 2000 lbs she said that thing is NOT going to be in our back yard. I just can't understand her sometimes.. hehehe
I don't seem to do small stuff. I really like them, I'm sure it is a mental issue.

I know this thread is a year old but this is the same kinda build that I am doing... The propane tank is called a "D" tank.. It's a 125 gallon tank. I have a friend that works for Ferrellgas and got mine for free.. Nice build!
That should be good to watch, be sure to start an thread and post some pics of the build, so we can encourage you along the way. And as we say around here NO PICS "never happened".. Of course we also what to know when to ask for samples when your done.

I just re-read this and the warming plate on top of the FB is a great idea. How well does it work? Are we talking boiling or just keeping sauce thin for basting?
I've been thinking about one except I wanted a COLD plate up there.
I've learnt over the past few years of cookin "Q" that nearly every time I tend the fire I will absent-mindedly reach to lay my gloves down at that very spot - or flashlight, or plastic coffee cup - you get the idea but so far I've caught myself before everything turned gooey. Has anyone ever tried making a COLD shelf on top of the FB? …. maybe out of wood on stand-offs, expanded steel or something that would stay relatively cold?
And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy.
