First timers big project

Post by james » December 10th, 2013, 8:27 pm

Hi every one. I started building a smoker two weeks ago. I got some good advise off of here, so I thought I would post some pics, and get some feedback. I'll probably have some questions. Well maybe a lot of questions. Here is the catch, I'm not building 1, I'm building 4 at the same time, and I've have never built one before. I'm going to build 5 ft. smoker on a trailer. I started with a pipe 30in by 20ft 1/4in thick. Post more pics for feedback as I go.

I found the pipe at a steal company near by, they had 6 of them. It just had a little surface rust on it, so I took a D.A to it today and it clean up pretty good. I was happy about that. I also cut it into 5ft sections. With out the fork lift I couldn't do this for sure. Best way to keep the wife from killing you, is let her work on it. That's her on the last pic with my jacket and gloves on so she wouldn't' mess up her nails and dress clothes lol Just don't tell her but she did a really good job. Going in the morning to pick up the steal for the trailers and fireboxes.

With help like that, you can just stand back and point. (As long as she's not watching) :kewl:

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

You lucky dog - that's very cool!

The best thing about working on a project WITH your wife is getting home late from the shop and not having to explain yourself …. :kewl:

Very true indeed.

Is it normal for one testicle to be larger than the other two?

Do you have a time frame of when you'll have them finished or are they going to be done when you get done ? I'm still trying to wrap my mind around 4 builds at the same time :wtf: I can't find time to finish the 1 I'm working on.

Not really a time frame, hopefully done by spring. My business is seasonal and I'm in a slow time right now, so I have more time to work on them right. I'm just gonna kick it into overdrive while I can.
