Ok,here it goes... I've been working all weekend in my smoker and here is what I did: lower the oppening for the exhaust stack slightly under the grate, increase stack diameter to 4" and 44" high, increase the oppening between fire box and cookig chamber and add a baffle plate 8" width with the same curve as the oppening from fire box, it is working much better but I think I'm loosing heat in the fire box because of the steel gauge (1/8") today I went to a local insulation supplier and get TEMPMAT that can holds up to 2600 degrees to insulate the fire box on the inside. Any other idea?
Sounds like a plan, you said it was a local supplier. Do you have any info so that if someone wanted it in the future they may find it. When I did a search for TEMPMAT I got a couple manafactures but didn't see anything about pricing.
I'm not sure what problems you've been having with it but I'm guessing problems getting or maintaining temps...?
I'm not seeing any pics of your smoker but it could be operator error on my end....
I'm very interested on how it does insulating the firebox. I would have insulated the cook chamber first but that's just me...
Maybe try throwing a packing blanket (an old one) over the cook chamber for a while to see how it behaves...?
... and remember, these suggestions are worth exactly what you paid for them

Smoker Tom: Company name is Insulating Specialty in Puerto Rico and I did pay $2.50 per square feet. They are not manufactures, they are a insulating contractor and resaler for the product.I don't have the brand or the company name that manufacture it but maybe I can get it.
Edna's Kid: I think the problem I'm having is loosing temp. thruogh the fire box,I guess because of the size of it wich is 24"x 24"(round)and it is bigger than require on the calculator, another thing is the plate thickness wich is 1/8". I can get temps. as high as 500,700,and 800 degrees in fire box and only get like 200 degrees on cooking chamber. This is what I'm planning to do we are going to cut another steel plate (1/8") and bend it like the one we allready have weld it on the inside and then fill it with the insulation.Hopping to cook with less fuel and longer times. For sure I need a crash course on smoker cooking in order to get the best out of it.

Yes, I can open the attachment. But I have to look at them one at a time. I cant open a slide show.
I need to play around with Picassa and see if they have changed things yet to make it easy to post to a website. The old days, it was kinda tough to post to a site like this.
