It's amazing how far you can get when you've got good help.
Very productive weekend for both Egor and Orvis thanks to Peshek and sawsalot.

Peshek installing fenders….

Image

Orvis's carriage makes a great table for lunch…

Image

Egor's insides - the middle shelf is in the 1/3 position and the top shelf happens to be in the halfway position. There's also a 2/3 position so both these shelves can go up a notch - looks a little odd …. didn't notice that when I took the pic … Anyway - setting the grates at 1/3rds makes very comfortable room for 18 racks of baby backs or 16 butts if set to halves.

Image

All the doors have travel tabs welded on to prevent them from opening at an inappropriate time.

Image

… or clevis…..

Image

My standard firebox guts ….. hanging fire basket and slide out ash pan…. Brackets done and waiting for me to install/wire the lights.

Image

The cargo door moved back to the grate tray. I plan on putting the 3rd grate (and this door) in this tray when they aren't in use. Going down the road I can strap our ez-up shelter across here. Seems I was always looking for a suitable place to put the extra grate that never worked out. There was always never a good place to haul the ez-up without tripping over it. This seemed to solve both problems - I hope.

Front view….

Estimated 550 pound curb weight
Trailer frame is 41" X 48" plus wheels and 4 foot drawbar
55 pound hitch weight
All 3/16" except 1/4" on the FB door and BP.

Image

The questionable fellow I built it for….. :D

First real cook - Next Saturday…. :needfood:

Thanks smokinFF ! :D

I have no intention of ever backing it up - it's too easy to grab the hitch and walk it where I want to go…. I hope …. :ympray:

As said... Your builds inspire ! The locks make it look like your cooking in a rough neighborhood

EDIT: I was re-examining your pictures on this build and I gotta say that this seems like just the perfect size, style and capacity cooker. I hope you won't mind, with your approval, if my 3rd cooker looks something like this ?..it is commercial grade and just looks terrific!

wood you consider selling a set of plans? Or trade my first born =)) =)) =)) ........na I couldn't do that to you. but I would be interested in plan even if you had Smokerplains draw up a set and pay you royalties of 80 % at least. :D :D :D

Gizmo, Impressive as usual... really love this cooker. I always wanted one that can be pulled behind a truck and hold alot of meat but never wanted one of the big cookers due to lack of space to park it while i wasnt using it.. This would seem to solve that problem.. Thanks for sharing the build

I don't mean to point out the obvious but...when I started my 1st cooker on Labor Day weekend 2013, I'd read tons of posts with people looking for a tank. Being so new to the design of smokers, the first thing I knew was " gotta find a tank". Not a simple task in some places as I've read. Some condemned tanks won't be sold for any reason, others are huge

Gizmo, your build needs nothing but sheet steel and effort. No delay or obstacles finding a suitable tank, my greatest time consumer. You could start tomorrow with a trip to the steel store. I am very excited about this prospect to "just get going". Thanks for your spectacular posts and ideas.

Sorry if it is too clear to everyone else but geez.... It's like a bright light just went off in my head.

I do have a question on your baffle plate. How did you set up the gap if it is a center fed design?
