I'm betting he'll do the hundred in about 5.9 ….

Sounds like a great weekend I could pretend I was there hope it all goes well it's snowing here that is not a regular happening brings out the kid in everyone
Ladies and Gentlemen please return your tray/tables to the full upright and locked position…..
Clear, 45F, dark, light breeze maybe 7 mph here.
Lit the chimneys at 4:40A this morning.
Hard to see smoke in the dark but there's 2 chimneys lit:
1) one inside the fire basket
2) one on the driveway.
A small packer and a foiled batch of seasoned rib tips.

Lighting the chimney inside the FB worked well - brought the CC from the original 45F up to 101F in 45 minutes.
Chimney's were completely lit at 5:25A
Dumped both in the basket and added a layer (5" deep ?) of misc. lump/briquettes that I wanted to use up on top of that. The rest of this cook will be lump.

Not too exciting but there's a 9 pound packer and 4 pounds of rib tips on at 268 pit temp, 51 core temp on the packer.
The pit dropped to 223 instantly from having the door open that long. Climbing at 232 in about 4 minutes. I think that means the fire is reasonably strong.
Added a layer of lump and a 3 X 14 hickory round for smoke. Pit temp dropped again to 202 - I think the fire is busy lighting the new fuel for a few minutes.
YEP! climbing through 212 after about 5 minutes….. 216 another 2 minutes later….
Check it in about a half hour…..
DANG! this is my favorite part of this hobby….
At a half hour it was back to 262 pit temp….
Closed the draft down to half recommended size (2" open) - temp dropped to 259 almost instantly then started climging again. Set the stack to half at 45 minutes into the cook - we'll see if that has an effect…..

Yesterday was a red-letter day at the Gizmo house ….. too tired to post last night.
Turns out the grate storage rack was a perfect place to pre-warm splits.
FB ran about 525F while the CC was around 280F.
We eventually learned the recovery time was short - IF we remembered to set the controls correctly….
Pesh using Orvis as a table to apply rub to the chicken….
There was 1 thigh left so I stuck it in FedEx to DC.
In this pic you can see Egor's normal operating set-up ….. no drawbar - just sitting on jack stands.
And just my wife and I set it up in about 30 seconds! Gawd! - I love that woman! …. almost as much as this new cooker …. I can say that because she doesn't check this forum.
This is Ray spritzing his butt….
Okay that came out wrong
Considering all the distractions the cook went pretty well - but we were chasing temps trying to learn Egor's quirks …. I think I got a bead on him now though. He's much more responsive to changes in the draft and flu damper than I'm used to so it was a bit of a roller-coaster. But we managed to pull 4 excellent categories off throughout the day. The next time will be a lot more accurate on times/temps.
And we got a long way on Orvis with 3 cooks in the kitchen (pun intended)
1) Hinged both FB and CC doors.
2) FB door "T" handle
3) CC door handle
4) Added the handy shelf below the CC door - wood looks great - it will match the bottom shelf
5) Welded the FB onto the main cabinet/carriage
6) Installed the draft door handle - 1 inch rod 3 inches long - I hope it's stout enough….
7) Installed 2 temp probe wire ports on the ends of the CC - Ray's design - looks cool!
8) Installed FB door toggle clamps/hard points

Impressive... Happy to read about it working so well. But honestly, I believe knowing where it comes from, anything less isn't really expected. Congratulation on another
Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life
