Thought I would give you guys an update. I totaled my Harley and had to have my right wrist reconstructed (2 plates, 15 screws, & 3 pins). Little old ladies should not be allowed to drive. Needless to say, this put my project on hold but now I've jumped back on it and I'm fabricating again. Here's a couple of pictures of last weekend's progress.
OUCH! Glad you're back in the saddle here - just pace yourself…..

Definitely could have been much worse. My wrist was the worst of it, followed by a dislocated shoulder, and some severe road rash. Woman pulled out in front of me, I laid the bike down and avoided contact with her car but tumbled down the highway for about 150 yards with no helmet or other protective gear. Anyways...
Just need to get the grates fab'd up for my upright and then it's on to the firebox.
I'm also looking for ideas on how to mount some sort of rails for my tuning plates. Detailed pictures sure would help. Thanks
Got a little work done this weekend. Handles on the tuning plates, baffle plate welded in. Welded the 1.5" flat strap around the door of the upright and it warped like crazy so I've had to massage it quite a bit, almost there but still have a ways to go.
You may find that you need to add a tuning plate to the bottom shelf of the vertical cabinet, to increase temp in the horizontal CC. Your cooker is similar to the one I'm currently using. I also use a stack in both CCs to regulate temps. I can run one hotter than the other or make them be the same it is pretty cool to have the flexibility in a stick burner. Just a thought while you are still building.

I've been thinking about putting an exhaust stack on the horizontal chamber as well as the vertical. Do you have a way to completely close off the vertical?
That's a pretty cool idea. I have spent a lot of time today designing different ways to block off the vertical. I need to get the firebox put together and mock up a few ideas and burn a couple of fires to see how she acts.
RC I can't tell how your vertical breathes if you put in all those plates…. ??
