You'll want a 1" gate valve in the bottom to regulate your draft air accurately. It won't take much air to operate but you need the gate valve to set it very accurately.
I don't think the RF pit calc applies to this type cooker.

A wood-only fire should take a larger air inlet so put in 2 - 1" inlets - 1 that you can cap and the other with the gate valve in it. You'll have double the range that way.
If I remember right Eli was about 24 deep - 32 wide and about 63 tall with casters….
