Post by mag1 » March 19th, 2014, 12:02 pm

Ok, how do you mount a thermometer to your tank? do you weld on a 1/2" nut, and drill a 1/2" hole thru the lid?
sorry for the dumb ?

Thanks

Thanks, Does anyone have a picture of one? I just went to McMaster Carr to see what is available, and not sure if I'm looking at the right fitting.
Thanks again. (Newbee here)

i get mine at Lowes in the conduit area. the pipe couplings don't have a slick look like the conduit ones do.

keep in mind it is galvanized so you'll want to burn it off with a torch and it can harm you so only do it in a well ventilated area.

Why not just drill a hole and mount it with the nut that comes with the thermometer? I do it this way on all my builds and it works perfect.

My gauges dont come with them. This way also gives you the ability to mount them at any angle you want and i like the look of em mounted this way with the coupling. Thats my reasons anyways.

Thanks for the input. Now I see how they work. Still working on my prints and I wasn't sure exactly how they attached. It all make sence now.

I use the same coupling but I buy it in the plumbing area and get it in black iron so it isn't galvanized.
