Steel In The Ozarks

Post by Simpleaim » April 3rd, 2014, 10:52 am

I've been a lurker on here for awhile now and most of the posts answer my questions but I do have one question for the guys around SW Missouri. I live in Springfield and know Frank is in Rolla but I was wondering if anyone could tell me where the best place is to get steel. Mostly tube as I plan on beginning a trailer build. I've bought a little from a place here in town but from what I've been reading on this forum, it seems a little high.

Thank you,

Ken

Hi Ken, I'm not sure what's in your area but here the cheapest steel suppliers are the oilfield suppliers. My local oilfield supply has just about anything I want on hand and can buy tubing for roughly 30% less than anywhere else... Plate sells for scrap prices!

Hmmm. That's interesting. You're not too far from me. That might be worth a trip since there's a propane tank salvage yard down the road from you a bit in Kingfisher. That might be trip worth making. I don't think there's any oilfield suppliers here in Springfield.

Thanks Brewer!

I know that I got mine from Ozark mountain steel, which is down that way somewhere. I can't find their number, but maybe frank will be along, I know he has it.

If I can talk him into telling me… Tomorrow I will try to list some suppliers in your area… If I can get Frank to tell me…

Thanks Smokeone and dcman. Ozark Mountain is actually the company I was talking about. Their prices seemed a little high compared to what I've read here.
