So I am going to begin my first smoker build this weekend, and I have been so excited I haven't really thought too much about anything other than acquiring the initial materials....so I decided to stop in and ask some pertinent questions. I'll save that for another thread tho.
I live in KC, been Qing since I was old enough to see over the family webber. I go through Lowes grills/smokers about every 2 years before the cheaply made crap is about useless. I have wanted to get involved with competition Q for awhile, and while I've judged at comps, I'm ready to throw my hat into the ring. I have the most ugly/beautiful 1988 Mack truck to tow my smoker with, so I'm going big right from the go...LOL

Is there any other members who are around Kansas City that have some lines on steel, sand blasting, painting, etc? I'm completely open to any help guys! I am not looking to build, sell, rebuild...I definitely want to do it right the first time. Appreciate the warm welcome...and of course pics will be forthcoming.

I moved here from central Illinois, champaign urbana area.
That build was fun and kind of wish I didn't get greedy and sell it to build a better one. I am sure once I get the new one done and start making memories with it my tune will change.
My count is 4 from KC so far?
Yes any help where I can get sandblasting done would be awesome. I want to get it cleaned up good before painting and seasoning it.
