Offsett build need help

Post by Tgrimmett » June 16th, 2014, 12:20 am

I am building a offsett smoker, my cc is round 20x60.my fb is round 20x 24. I've got the ends welded in the pipes ,my question is I have a 8 inch round piece of pipe can I weld it to the top end of my fb an run the pipe threw the bottom of the cc . Or would it be best to cut out an join them to one another.

I would cut and join - less heat loss and more than likely more stable operating temp

And on the eighth day God created barbecue …. because he DOES love us and he wants us to be happy. :D

Looking at the math the 8" pipe is too small anyway it is only 50.24 square inches you need 60.32 square inches in your throat opening. As for the rest of what these guys are saying, I would agree.

Current Smokers: Backyard RF Offset and Hybrid RF Offset trailer rig with Cowboy cooker and fish fryer, always room for more........

On the top or end of the cc as high as you can get it and only sticking in the cc enough to get a good weld.
