I don't want to sound negative, only thinking this would be the time to say it, if I'm going to. The drain may be a bit small since it really isn't a smooth liquid like water you may find it clogging up then you might need DC to come over and fix it. All kidding aside what size is that drain pipe? I don't want you doing this: :headwall:

It will work but be sure to leave a clear spot to poke something through it when it doesn't. If you drain it each time it will be less trouble.

Yes, you want a valve, otherwise it will suck cold air in an defeat the natural draft.

I didn't get a whole lot done today. Finished the FB door. Finished the one side of the baffel. Started on the CC door. It did warped some and I plan on using the hydraulic jack/chains method to fix it. ImageImageImageImageImage

Disappointed tonight after looking more at the trailer I bought. The metal is not thick enough to support the smoker to my liking. I am going to strip the undercarriage and build a new trailer.

That's a bummer on the trailer but the smoker is looking great. You may want to consider lowering the side of your fire basket that faces the door so that you don't have to pull the basket out to add wood..jm2cw

That's a good observation Big T. My basket has about 5" of clearance on it and it's not enough. You might look into stiffening the door if you find the heat of the fire creates a warp. It looks like you have room for an "x" brace on the door. My 2 cents as well

.120 2" for the frame and 3/16 2" for the spine.

Awesome build!!!! Its a bummer that the trailer needed a make over. BUT. in the end, you will be happier redoing it.

I agree with the others that if you build a fire box door,,,,,,it will warp.

I would try and (X) the inside of the door.

Just be careful not to warp it while welding. I think I would clamp it very well of even tack the door on all 4 corners to the weld table. Then weld in the X brace on the inside of the door. I know your door is mounted, but even if you had to cut one of the barrels loose, it may be better in the end.

Next one may be a dumb question...... Why did you stick weld the fire basket when you have the Lincoln sitting in the shop?

Again... Very nice build. :LG:

I will definitely look at a solution to "x" the door.

I am assembling the smoker at my buddies fab shop. I built the firebox at my house with my tombstone welder on a off weekend.

Looks like your moving along outstandingly. I'm currently intimidated by my FB build...and lack of funds. I like the V shape you made for your grease trap. Its going to work alot better than my flat plate that I planned on spraying out often. Good job bro.

I understand completely on the working at home on an off weekend. There are a couple 3/32 rods that burn pretty easy with out sticking. Is your little tombstone ac only or is it ac/dc?

Keep up the great work, your gonna have a fire burning in no time.

Penny, I will try and shoot ya a message this weekend when I get back in town. No need to be intimidated with the fire box.

I built this on a budget too. Look on pg1 and you will see my grab at the scrap yard. Saved a ton of money there.

Yeah I've spent nearly 2500 so far. I had all these dreams and aspirations of bigger is better, so I did a 500 gal and built my trailer from scratch using 4 Inch channel....and it just kept sucking me in from there.
