double stacks

Post by NomadAviator » November 19th, 2014, 3:24 pm

I am just about to start a 24x48 reverse flow smoker. I would like to use double stacks for the exhaust.
My question is for exhaust pull, would i half the stack length if using two stacks? currently the calculator says that i need a 24" exhaust at 4.5 inch pipe.
I have searched for an answer and came up with nothing so far. My assumption would be if you double the airflow you would half the length.
Anybody have any answers regarding this. Or is it easier to stick to one exhaust?

Yes, you are trying to get an specific cubic inch of volume in the stacks to match the CC & FB. So yes half is the same.

Making memories.

Because of my pipe equation, I need 8" pipe. It would be sooo much better for me to be able to use 4" as I can use chrome diesel exhaust!

Or I am still trying to find out if anyone has squared it off and to what success. I think square would look pretty cool.

There are a couple builds that I have seen that have square stack. They do look pretty awesome.

I have been busy with life and work so I have been away from the calculators for a while so I am not much help there.
Sorry

Remember that two 4" pipes don't equal a single 8" pipe. Volume changes dramatically when diameter is increased or decreased.

The stacks can be shorter using the 2 vs 1 it is easy to make the adjustments

So do I need to re-run the calculations with it being 4" and divide it by 2?

:hijack:

Pennywise, what does the calc say your stack volume needs to be?

And maybe we should take this back to your build thread.
