Its good to know that I am not the only one that has probably spent more money then I should have. LOL

As soon as I get home I must get my big trailer up for sale. Lots of family things going on and Need a 20 some foot by 8 wide 8 tall very soon.

I wont be out of the game, just wont be up town with AC. Frank !!!!!! better load up that extra cot in the comp trailer... I may need it.

Pennywise.....I would love to check out your build.

Mankussm, if you get a chance pick up a small package of 7018ac rod. Burn up at least a pound of them on scraps. If I am welding horizontal. (flat position) I actually like to set up my piece so that I can elevate the piece so that I can run slightly uphill pushing the puddle. I feel its easier to help the slag stay away from getting trapped in the puddle.

I actually have a small mig set up with flux wire in it and I most always drag out my thunderbolt leeds if I am outdoors in the wind. Stick is so much more fun then flux wire.

Starting a 110 gallon build

Post by Mankussm » December 6th, 2014, 4:57 pm

Here is my trailer design.
7.5'x3.5'
Frame will be .120"
Spine will be 3/16"
Offset in the back is for the FB. Undecided if I want to center the smoker on the trailer.

Any benefit of centering on the trailer?

The size cooker you're making it won't need to be centered on a trailer but as narrow as your trailer is I don't think you to off center it. You will be able to reach it fine. So I would say either is fine.

I agree with RC, I don't think you need to offset it but it'll work fine if you do.

The trailer looks great and so does the fire basket, it'll make it a lot easier to add wood when it's hot.

Only a couple more odds and ends. Then it will be ready for its first burn. Sandblast and paint!

Chimney, handles, latches, fenders, wood basket, cutting board, and this thing will be ready to fire up! I was considering going all black. Although I have tossed up the idea of painting the smoker black and the trailer a different color.

Thoughts?

I've seen them both ways and I think the different color trailers really make the cooker standout. I painted my cooker flat black and my trailer gloss black because I was lazy and didn't want to tape everything up. I have added a few things to my trailer since I originally built it and it was easy to paint it to match without taping up everything.
