Looks great. What Frank didn't tell you is the size of the opening between the FB and CC on MACK was a mistake. When he cut it, he thought he was cutting the throat opening. Never the less he had more work to do to get the baffle system to work.
Your scaring me now. What do I need to know about the opening? If we get much further along it is going to be hard to access and modify. Let me know if you know what changes need to be made.
Thanks
I would put a sliding plate that could cover the whole opening when closed, then only half when open. As you know you can always adjust the air/heat/smoke using the opening at the bottom of your WB.

Clover- I am confused, what I hear you guys saying is that the throat opening needs to be adjustable with a slider? Or, are you saying the opening to the warming chamber from the cooking chamber needs the slider? Or, Both?
My concern is that the opening from the Firebox to the cooking chamber is the right size, I thought that is what your were saying that Frank had a problem with. Please let me know what exactly is the issue. I have been away from school for two weeks now and I need to get back and do a little measuring and planning before the kids are back at it on Monday. Thanks for any info you can give me.
The throat opening is fine, don't change a thing. You need to rework the opening between the cook chamber and the working cabinet. It works out best to use a slider door to ensure is closes tightly. Here is a pic on how I do mine. The opening is 5" square.
Lol, I love you guys hahaha.
The difference between a professional and an amateur is the professional knows how to make his mistakes look like they were meant to happen.
Anyway, check my thread and you will see the damper I built. It works awesome. Do not panic bro. All is well.
I know the butterfly damper on Frank's "Mack" would work. But I would prefer a sliding damper so you wouldn't have adjust tension on the shaft as it wore down from use. You would never need the whole opening in the WB.

That is awesome. I don't think I even went to half of my shop class. We probably did not do cool stuff like that, but I don't know, was too busy having fun. Lol
