ok, here's a question, how do you keep the rope gaskets on? I used a gasket glue (can't remember brand) from one fleet farm, and it has let go in a couple of spots. Is there a particular brand that work's better then others? or is this an issue I will end up dealing with off and on?
Thanks for all the help, this has been a fun build and a new experiance for me.
I used high temp RTV silicon the red stuff. I put it on a clean surface then lay the rope in place and clamped it using paint mixing sticks and R-11 Vise-grips. This allows the silicon to penetrate the rope and stick to the surface.
Making memories.

thanks for all the help guys. I had no idea on how to do one of these before coming here. I lurked on a couple of sights along with this one, but this one was one of the biggest helps. Now to learn how to use it.
That's what I use, lay a fat bead, gently press the rope gasket in place, shut the door once with out latching it and let it sit open for a day. It will latch tight but that's what you want.
Since if has been around -5* - 10* the last couple of days, I pulled the door, took it to work, cleaned up the flange, fixed my handle, and brought it home. Its in the basement with 3 sides rtv'd, should have it all back together tomorrow or Friday. Giving out for one last bowhunt tomorrow. . Still trying to find a decent deer. Season closes this week.
Fixed the door gasket with the Red Permatex gasket maker, that works great.
Here are some pics of the latest smoke. 2 recipies on a 11lb. pork loin split in half and a slab of salmon. All turned out great.
I thought you guys might want to see how the other smoker turned out. (my buddies) He finally finished it up, he deviated from the plan, and it turned out really neat. He loves how it works, and it has replaced his Green Egg on the porch. (He might have them both up there, not sure) He put on a controller that feeds all air to fire box, added a spice shelf, side shelf, and a wood stacking shelf in the back. The steer head is a combo of the Chicago Bulls and the Texas Longhorns. The eyes now are painted red, and some orange on the flames. Enjoy.
