Great job....I've read this before: if you add fire brick to the existing box, it's dimensions will be reduced to the point of being possibly undersized,
Since I have no experience with doing this, I can't say but it has sound logic.

WOW..... Your steering set up is the cats meow. I would love to copy your design for a future build. Don't have a build planned but need to do that I can make it steer. I love it.
The only thing I can see that it needs is bigger wheels and a motor.
Looks very clean and slick. Are you finished with the firebox except possibly insulating? It looks like the door is a flat piece with no reinforcement. You may want to consider some stiffening cross members and/or some internal angle or tubing framework. The heat from the FB can warp a flat piece like that otherwise IMO.
I was looking at your steering knuckles too.... How will you go about turning the wheels...is it a tiller attached to the tie rod?
I was hoping to do something like this on my smoker along the lines of the Little Red Wagon the kids pull along. If it has any value .. I used 2" x 1/4" flat in an X configuration on y Fire Box door and it has gotten hot enough to bubble the top but in no way has warped the door. So, I now have a strip of 2" in the top as well. Again, just to prevent warping, and it does.

heres a pic of the steering. I use a pipe that's bent upwards with a handle and a pin that locks it in place. when im done moving it I pull the pin and bar and hang it on th smoker. the tierods are just steel rods welded to bolts and I attach them to the knucke with nylock nuts so I can tighten them up just enough so they don't bind but have little play.
Its stable when I'm pushing it around the yard over some obstacles like 2x4s. Wanted to make sure It wouldn'ttip over Iif the kids move it around. Going to fast won't be an issue with this thing being so heavy.lol
Whoa ! I looked up Johnson Bar. Who knew that's what they call those. I do need that though...but not for 7 grand. That is really the thing to move that smoker and I'll bet, even the trailered one.
So that's what rigging is? Or one of them anyhow.

I made all the parts except the spindles. They were from a 2005 ezgo golf cart which I had kkicking around. I have a 2 hp Briggs that i debated On using to power the ssmoker around. The axle under the fire box is keyed so if I decide to go that route it's ready. I'd end up rrunning a jack shaft set up.
12 years ago I built a racing barstool. It was fast, frightening and fun. Now I wish I would have kept it as a tug for our Feastie Boy. Motorizing a smoker? I love the idea. Mount a a cooler on the front for a seat. A new smoker category has been defined. "Offset motorized oil tank smoker".
I want to do this now. A seat and steering wheel that mounts on the front of the trailer hitch....I would be the King of Arrowhead Stadium this year. Pull up somewhere close by...unhitch, grab my parking pass, and head on into the game!
