first trailer smoker beginings

Post by Dino B » January 23rd, 2012, 9:11 pm

wanted to share some pics of my first trailer smoker in progress, not sure how to narrate each photo, but I'll give it a shot.

To begin with, I needed to build a portable "A" frame that I could adjust, big time handy when you don't have a fork lift. I'm using 24" pipe for the smoker and 2'x2' 1/4" plate for the fire box, with chipping hammer handles for my lids. It truly is amazing how much time has been put in but seems so little has been done. Every step gets me more excited to fire up this baby. Dean

the springs takes the lids after you lift it up 1/3 of the way. with the doors being so heavy this seemed to be a simple way to help keep it up on its own

:LG:

That is going to be one heavy duty smoker! :-bd

As for posting pictures, have you tried having the forum open in one window, and photobucket in another? I usually do that so I can copy an img, paste it in my thread, copy img, paste it, and so on.

Also have you read http://www.smokerbuilder.com/forums/vie ... f=50&t=125? This will help you resize your pics. That may help in loading more than 1. I am not a computer guru, just throwing out how i do it. :jocomp2:

BBQ is just smoke and beers!
Usually more beers than smoke.

Great looking cooker dino. :LG: I do wonder though if the heat will eventually take the temper out of those springs? Just a thought. ;)

good thought blazer, I guess it will be a experiment , if it doesn't last long I'll put counter weights, the springs only cost $4 something a piece. :wsm:

Finally was able to work some more on the build and now time to bombard with some pics

Image

one day I'll have my own shop and not have to work on the ground or off the back of my work truck, but until then you do what ever it takes \m/

Image

Image

Image

had fun with making options with the shelves --

Image

with the top shelves, made four sm sections with option of just having one set in back if needed room in front ( grabbed that idea from a utube vid)

Image

or I made it to be able to remove top center out if I need to smoke a lot of turkeys

Image

thanks again to everyone on this site for keeping me motivated from all of your builds and insights :kewl: :kewl:
