No such thing as a stupid question on this forum. We realize everyone has different experience levels and we want to make sure everyone feels comfortable asking questions. As stated above, watch Franks video and you will see how easy lighting a fire can be
Well thats why i joined this forum. Everybody's super helpful. I watched that video. I will definitely go buy 2 of those chimneys. Looks alot better than propane in that firebox haha.
Thanks. I need to put the new pictures up. The smoker is done except to screw the thermometers in that i ordered from this website when they come in. Hopefully tomorrow. And i need to make some sort of fire basket for the firebox. The firewood boxes in the front are done too along with the slide out grates on the 150 gallon too.
If you want a propane fire method for your firebox get a weed burner/torch at your local hardware store or on harborfreight.com. I wouldn't mess with a chimney.
Alright sorry it took so long but heres the more recent pictures of the smoker and cooker. I went and bought a charcoal chimney but i also like that weed burner idea too. I might buy that too.
Alright I figured I'd give yall an update. I fired it up to test it and according to the thermometers I put on there I only have a 5 degree difference from the firebox side to the other side but I didn't check it with the digital thermometer. I threw some fat from trimmed briskets over all the racks and let them smoke for a couple hours to help season the smoker. After the smoker heated up it stayed right at 275 and I just had to add a log or 2 every 30-45 minutes. After seeing it work like that I'm pretty happy with it, especially for my first one so now I'm just waiting on a calm not windy day to sandblast and paint this thing.
As time and practice goes on you will be able to adjust intake air vents to get her down to smoking temps and the fuel will last a little longer. But yep it is right on target.
