Thats fine no problem. I understand completely. Thanks. If you were to do the frameless cabinet, would you build it the same size?

Yes sir, with frame its 1.5 inch wall. so frame less you still make the bends so that you still have a wall thickness that fits the insulation perfect.

Very nice! I have been looking to build the same style..I was wondering..I have a 18 inch auger system.. Any measurements you recommend for going a little bigger?

Sorry I missed all the comments guys...mine is welded out completely inside and out...anywhere I passed through the wall is also boxed in so nothing can get to the insulation...if you need any dimensions still just let me know!

I had intentions of putting the 18" in this one but Frank was out of stock at the time and I wasn't waiting! I have no issues with the 12" though, I just assumed I needed the burn pot to be centered, I'm sure you can add some size to the cook chamber as long as it's well insulated, I can't recall what the BTU rating is on these drives but they can handle a fairly large chamber...mine has no issues running up to 400.

We are looking to build a new pellet smoker and wondering about how many cubic inches an 18" auger vs a 12" auger will smoke or maybe another way to ask would be how many square inches of racks would be fed off of each size. Thank you for your help and we apologize as we are new to this.

Thank you

The limited experience I have looks to me like the length of the auger is to place the fire pot in the center of the CC. Not how much it will smoke.

That's right Rod...both offer 36,000 BTUs....I'm not sure how much space that can handle but I know it works really well for mine.

Looks great. Did you follow any plans or have any plans you can share? Also curious what the fire chamber area looks like (drip tray, heat plate, etc).

I didn't use any plans on it just kinda figured up what I wanted and went from there. If I was to do it over again I would definitely go with a square tubing (1.5-2") over the rectangle just to make things a bit easier. I'll try to give ya what pics I've got. I think the angle of the drip pan has changed since that pic...I had to bring it up to clear the heat deflector over the burn pot.

5 years in a commercial setting has been pretty hard on this ol build. A recent grease fire caused quite a bit of warping and caused the hinges to fail. Good news is that with the new hinges she will be back in action.

Not sure what is worse...that you burned up your pit or that you haven’t kept in touch wit us since you built it.

Lust kidding, life goes that way sometimes. Definitely nice that you can get it back into service.
