3 Axis Welding Clamp

Post by WyomingLawDog » May 27th, 2015, 6:19 pm

I figured I would share this for anyone looking to buy supplies to build your own smoker. So anyway I have been looking for supplies as I don't own many supplies. Anyway I seen a 2 axis clamp on someone's post that looked awesome and bought one of those along with a 3 axis clamp. The 3 axis clamps are a little spendy, But I found one for $151.00 with very cheap shipping, all other places I was finding it for $200 to $220. It is at www.lehighvalleyabrasives.com. So I just wanted to put this out there for my fellow smoker builders if you are in the need for one. It looked very handy for welding square tubing together, will come in very handy when I go to build the mini gravity fed smoker I figure. Been buying lots of supplies such as C-clamps, other clamps, squares and many other supplies to have on hand.

Rodcrafter, I did think of that, so I figured if it did start that, I would just tack the tubing together to keep it from moving, then take it out of the the clamp and finish off the weld. Don't know if slag will splatter or not, would not bet against it with my newbie welding skills, lol.

I've had parts shift from just tacking in place. Additionally the heat sometimes causes warping or movement. Then, I'm solidly out of square wondering what the heck happened!

Oh I bet they could Puff, the clamp should keep the tubing tight and not let it move, to allow them to be tacked into place or welded together fully. Hopefully you don't heat it up so much that it does warp, will see, anything that will be an extra hand for me and help me along will be nice.
