Looks great, once you get it jacked back in shape FC it will stay put. It is all the welding that draws the steel, cooking temps won't effect it at all.
Making memories.

Thanks Fellas. It is just finding or making time. This is our busy time of the year with extra work. Plus I am chasing my 8 year old nephew's allstar team around. Headed to state Thursday night for the weekend...Plus the wife is 28 weeks along. I really want to be done before she dominos. I would love to have it ready for Labor Day weekend. I am aiming for it time will tell.
Made a lil progress today. A lil is always better than none (of a lot of things). Insulated and skinned one side of the WB/VC.
slug welded there in center to have some support for the outer skin in the middle. Just felt the area was to large. Grinder and paint she will be aight
This is one nice cooker. Have you determined which of your great grand children you will leave it to yet? Because it will be an family heirloom for sure.

Puffy I have thgt abt a hidden message ever since I read your post.
Well the doors for the CC are gonna weigh 75-125#s best guess. I said 75. My guys around the shop think 100-125. Gonna have to fabricate hinges. I'm afraid the ones I bought don't have near enough arse. Save them for a future build.
You're surely correct RC.... Even if you just let it hang outside uncovered, you're a long way off. Found a boat canvas guy who is making a cover for GF Junior.
Forty_ creek, is the entire firebox insulated too? Or only the WC? Do you have any idea on weight of this smoker? What are you doing regarding moving it either at its location or to its location. Obviously you have heavy materials handling options like RC and Frank and so many here.
Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life
Hey Puff, he is doing such a nice job on this rig I'll come move it for him. It may take a rigging crew as it is. I sure like the way he thinks. Good work FC!!!!

1. The FB and WC/VC are fully insulated
2. I do not have a weight on the cooker yet. Once doors are all hung going to weigh it on the scales here at the mill.
3. As far as handling it. Have access to cranes on mechanics trucks. Plus an overhead shop crane. Plus forklifts, trackhoes and loaders. Problem I see is I have 1/2 ton truck. Gonna have to buy a 1 ton to pull it tho.
Our second child is due Monday. So fixina hit the breaks again on progress. But I can almost see the light!!!

Well first... Good news on the second child. My first grandson is 8 month old now and it only serves to remind me how little I knew and how un prepared is was 30 years ago for fatherhood..so, makin' up for it now.
RC, I'd love to watch how that goes! You must see some insane stuff. In our old garage, we had 16' ceilings with a 15 ton electric hoist on a rolling chassis the length of the building... About 70' long and 20' wide. WE NEVER REALLY HAD A NEED FOR IT THEN. At my house, I have a ton of tall trees...that's it.
I'm sure you see that light soon...in fact, I'm breakin' out my sunglasses now.
