IS this thing finished yet? I would love to have the firebox dimensions you used. I'm building the same thing and hope to have it finished by summer, it's been a year in the making...

Whats up fellas. It's been a long time but I'm back on the scene. Finished my cooker a long time ago but life took over and I dropped off the site since my last post. Thought I would pick up where I left off and finally show you the finished product. First a few more shots of the rough stage just before we finished.

Fresh off the trailer. Did a good clean up and burnout, burned a few splits in the firebox. I took a few shots of the inside to show the racks but the files are too big to post. The plan was 3 racks, but I ended up with a 4th thats a little smaller than the others. I don't always use them all unless I want to cook a whole case of ribs at one time. I found out the actual size is 120 gallon not 130, but it holds plenty trust me.

We just used the bbq paint from home depot. It's high temp rated. The reason it looks so glossy is because after I got it nice and warm I painted the outside with vegetable oil to protect the paint and keep it from rusting. It's about time for a fresh coat now.

So every so often you re-oil the paint. Interesting. I like the shine

Cooks great! The cook (aka..me) could use some work. But any screw up definitely ain't because of the Pit. Holds steady temps, and it's got real good draw. I take out the baffles and use it as a grill too for burgers, dogs, steak and sausage.

I have to agree it does cook good! I don't think we can help with "the cook" (you). Lol

Practice makes perfect. That was my first time cooking Brisket. Same with the Pork Shoulder. Maybe my 3rd time with Ribs. My plan was to simulate a competition cook. Can't imagine doing it with any less of a cooker. Thanks to everyone who chimed in along the way.
