I'm sure everyone has had their "best" gasket use in some way. Much has to do with preferences and attachment. For me: the flat Nomex self adhesive 1" wide stuff has proven to be just freakin' excellent. Be advised though, on 6 smokers in two years, it's the only kind I've used. But I cannot argue with success.
Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life
No, never have. The original thought when Frank recommended the self adhesive, was that like every other self stick thing...in 6 weeks it would peel off and not stay in place. But, I knew nothing of it and believed Frank would not tell me to use it if it was bad so I did.
The stuff is SOLID AS CAN POSSIBLY BE. It worked fabulously ? Don't carelessly stick it because it will not pull off. My original 275 is now 30 month old an there is no sign of slop. Have it on 5 other smokers...

Okie dokie. I have a bunch of rtv but I bought self adhesive lay flat from Smokerbuilders. On one door I put a small bead of rtv prior. Kinda like RC I tend to overbuild. Motto go big before to small. I wanta be A LEGEND one day...
For what it's worth...that self adhesive gasket is as good as the adhesive on that 3M gray colored double sided stuff with the red peel off protector. It is THAT GOOD. There is no way I would have thought it was possible especially with heat and grease.
I would find it very hard to try something else knowing this material is ...stick it and forget it!
