Taking shape now. At least you can kind of visualize what it suppose to be. A lot of work just to get here and a lot more till its done. I didnt realize what actually goes into one of these. Jesus dont tell my wife how much it costs lol. Its worth it to me tho its been a lot of fun.
Hey Jon, watch out for that shoulder....looks heavy!
Being away, I was just reading you posts... I'm guessing you know Rouses Point? My wife's family is scattered around Swanton, Enosburg Falls, Richford and Montgomery VT. Made that 8-9 hour drive for over 39 years now. What is you plan on keeping the firebrick in place or from tipping on travel?
Make no mistake, there ain't no powder in this Puff ! And... I'm not really a crazy person but I play one in real life
Sure do know all those places pal. With a bum chicken wing ive definitely had to learn to slow down a bit and cant powerlift anything lol. I think once the bricks are laid out im going to tack in some straps to keep them in place.
They told me that "wing" should return to normal...
I've toyed with the idea of using firebreak inside of the firebox. I had a glacier Bay woodstove several years back in the basement and it had a fire brick bottom and sidewalls and I Think it had angle iron on the side walls but you had to place the bottom bricks in first and then slide the sidewall as keystones to Lockean and they would be held in by the angle Iron. Since I never bothered to look at how it stayed in place because it was never moved again until my neighbor took it for his garage.
I do remember however that the insulation value of those firebricks was quite good

I'll have to play around with the brick till i find something that will work. I need help finding reference pictures of a grill i saw built here. I dont know the name its called by its square and the center grate is controlled up and down by a wheel/pulley system. Sorry for sounding stupid but thats all i know about them. I think they are used for steak chicken or really anything you would want to grill? Any help will greatly be appreciated.
that could possibly be the sweetest thing ive ever seen pal. Thats a work of art. Ive found a few online for research/reference and think im going to try my hand at making one as i dont think i can live without it lol.
O no no no! There's only one LEGEND!

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN the one and only Rodcrafter!
I'm just glad to be apart of this group. Going to try and hang around and pay-it-forward! Plus I like you guys and love all things Q'in!
But Mr Legend I appreciate and humbly accept your compliment! You and many others they this forum guided me thru my build. I will forever be in debt I feel.
As far as my build, it's getting closer to paint. The cover and fold out sides are almost complete. Then I'm adding a shelf along the CC and an additional storage above the existing storage area (to much dead space, can you ever have to much storage?). I have big plans for progress this coming week to be ready for paint within two weeks...hopefully!!!
Yea black pit and all carbon steel lack. Using SS mesh where I can to break it up plus kinds go with the fenders and wheels.
Thanks for the compliment. It's turning out way better than and bigger than originally envisioned. I'm pretty proud of her/it!
Doors on and working pretty good few more adjustments and it will be close to perfection lol. Gotta hurry up and build a counter balance as this things heavier than a dead minister.
My guess is you will always have a "favorite" side of the smoker based on how you position it in relation to your prep area. If it were me, I'd never use the back side as I'm too lazy to walk around. For me, doors on both sides wouldn't be worth the work.
You could do French doors however. Cut the big door in half so you could open one only or both. However, just like my refrigerator, everything i need means I have to open both doors anyway.
So its been a while since I've updated this build. As of today ive put in the baffle plate and grease dam. Installed drain with ball valve. Installed upper and lower rack slides built the upper and lower racks installed the chimney with damper. (All pictures will follow) lol fir those who like pics. Started building the santa maria style grill for the front of trailer. Big bonus found out i do not have to register this trailer with dmv!
