Some guy on some other forum that I was using ages ago, hadn't been there in awhile so I went back to have a look.
I'm very happy with the info and help I've been getting here, that's why I stopped going there. Just making sure but the calculator is for RF smokers? Is there any difference in throat size between a RF and a normal offset of the same size? Just want to make sure but the 2.6 inch cut is perfect then?

I know I'm being annoying but I just want to know my smokers going to work and I build it right the first time
So thanks again to everyone who has chipped in with some hints, tips and good info
Cheers guys

I forgot to ask what you guys do when cutting out your hood, mine started bending out so I stop and welded it back down lol.
Any tips/tricks to stop it from doing that?

The "Pit Calc" is for both kinds and then some. You will be fine. The door does warp when cutting and it does it more with a oxy-acetylene torch than with anything else. I've used that kind of torch and a plasma torch but sometimes they will spring some just because they were stressed when they were rolled from flat plat to a cylinder. A jack and a chain can and will bend it back to where you need it. I always recommend folks to not weld the hinges on before they do this stuff, because it is hard enough without the added headache.

Dave uses a different formula than the rest of the world. He likes more airflow and so his throat sizes, intakes and stacks are bigger than what's suggested by the PitCalcs. He's a very knowledgeable guy but the PitCalcs dims have been used with great success a multitude of times.

I'll try the jack and chain trick this weekend

I'll just be sticking to this forum from now on. Sounds like everyone's making great smokers off these calcs, so I'll stay with a tried and test method.

Thanks again guys

I wish I could get my pics up on here to show you my progress

Finally had a bit of time to do some more on the firebox, drilled out all my intake holes.
All of them are below fire level should I put a few just above?

What are people's opinions on chimney placement and style? I was thinking something like this

You can always close off intakes so if you want to add extra, no harm, no foul. That stack design works.

I would keep the intakes at or below fire level and I use the same stack design but I mount it as high on the CC as possible. I agree with Pete that you can always close them off if you don't need them.

Pretty agricultural but it'll work haha. Hopefully it'll clean up and look nice once it's all welded and painted

Hi guys, finally back after a busy few weeks and no access to a welder.
Got a few bits done tonight. Starting to get excited, feel like one good solid day and I could fire her up
