Got one door framed, learnt a nifty trick. I'm not even gonna suggest that this is a novel idea. In fact you guys probably see this very often, but I'm sure glad I thought of it...

Thanks! I got the other 3 done in a much much shorter time frame than the first one took by itself!

Got 720lbs of steel being delivered this evening. It's a couple days late, but for 13 cents per pound who's complaining! Right?

Got both doors framed. They ain't perfect, but they will seal good with stove sealing rope. I'm ok with them. I'm already having thoughts of "Next time..." lol

Thanks. Photobucket has gotten so slow I was trying a new hosting site with Google. It showed up for me, but must have been due to my browser cache or something.

I'm trying so hard to learn welding via Youtube video's and reading and looking at lots of pictures of bad weld (similar to most of mine).

All I've learned for sure is that a good grinder can make the ugliest welds look presentable... :headwall:

I am not even close to being finished with my first build and I am already formulating a rough plan for my next one. I guess I am hooked.

That is most of it practice, but try little changes until you get it down.

Sad part is I guarantee it will not be your last trip to the steel yard. I thought I had all mine in the first trip yet made 2 more trips for shortages.

Great start....slow and steady wins the race.

Probably overkill on the baffle plug welds. This steel was actually 3/32 and I put 3 sheets together. It's very solid so I have no concern now. But I did when I had only doubled it.

Got the firebox all tacked and squared. After it was all done, the fit was amazing. My neighbor cut all my steel on a plasma table at a steel plant and with the exception of one plate, it was all perfect.
