I would say I put about $1200 total in it as it sits. That includes the CyberQ.shortlived wrote:Looks damn good! I'm looking at building one similar myself but want to compare pricing to build from scratch vs starting with an oven or something for the cabinet. Do you have a rough idea on material costs?
Yes the chute is 8 inches square. The only time I had an issue is when I tried some lump mesquite charcoal. It was way too big of pieces and I made sure to watch it because I was worried about it. The chunks we small logs 2.5 inches in diameter and about 6 inches long.rikun wrote:Is the chute square? Have you had any problems with it, jamming etc?
The recovery time for mine is very minimal. Just to open and mop or spritz I would say there is less than a minute. Last smoke I did I wrapped at 8 hours. Had the door open to pul out 4 butts at a time and put in a pan. Did this 3 times and when I was all done it took about 5 minutes to recover fully. I am pretty happy with it.babyshaq270 wrote:Quick question what's the recovery time on your temp gauge after opening the door ?

I did however go with the 25 CFM fan and not the 10 CFM as I wanted to get up to temp quick and has minimal recovery times.
I think that coupled with fully insulating and using 1/8" plate to help hold heat helps a ton.

Thanks for the info I ran into this site a couple days ago and realized you have to pay $79. For the plans is that correct ?Squiggle wrote:http://www.smokerbuilder.net I build the mini GF from there & it's almost exactly the same, plans are so easy to follow.
