Well guys it's been a while since I've been able to work on the rf but the time has finally come ! I have so many threads bouncing around I wasn't sure which one to use but since my first order of business is figuring out my bp situation this one seemed appropriate . Here (hopefully) are some pics of the 3/8 plate I want to use for my bp. In my head they will be tunable but maybe that's not a bright idea , I know they are heavy and should seal up ok hen pushed together which is why I'm thinking of not welding them in, it would make them cleanable also. If you see flaw to this please let me know . Like I've said before I'm just a kid that found a new playground here.
I built my fb from 3/16 like a moron , so I'm thinking about tacking so of these plates along the inside . It would also reduce the size which it needs by 50% according to the pit calc . One idea I've had regarding size is to add a false bottom about 5" from the bottom . Not sure if it's a good idea or not . I could slide a couple fire bricks in the void , or if it would work maybe if I put some wood down there it would be like a smoke box.... I have to make a decision about the fb soon though because If I raise the bottom I will need to raise my air inlets as well . Thanks for any ideas guys
Insulation isn't a must. The air gap woks just fine. But if you do line it with brick or the insulation you become much fore fuel efficient. Just my 2 pennies.
