Where to get heavy, straight side drum?

Post by Enasnidx » February 3rd, 2017, 12:32 pm

I've been scouring the web to find a source for a straight side 55 gal. drum in 16 gauge but I'm striking out. I've found some with a 20 ga. body, but I'd like the heavier if I can find it. Anyone got a lead for me?

I'm not sure what gauge that they were but Frank got some straight drums a while back. Him or Tom might be able to point you in the right direction.

We have drums at the shop. Not sure if it's worth while to ship them tho. I can bring some to the gathering in April tho. They are 95 bucks.

I'm up in the cold north of Minnesota.
I've found refurbs for $25 in my area that are straight side, but they have 18 ga. top and bottom and 20 ga. body. I'd definitely pay more if I could find some with 16 ga. top/body/bottom. They should weigh right around 60 lbs. if so.

I'll call frank and have him weigh one of them. Might even get the czar to weigh one if he happens by the shop. I'll also see if one of them can get the numbers off the bottom. Did I mention that they are already blasted inside and out.

Any luck from anyone on where to look for the 16 ga. drum? I may pay to ship if it's not outrageous (I'm sure it would be though).
