Got a bit more done on the fire box today.. somehow the honey dos always cut into my time to work on the smoker lol. Few hours at a time is better than nothing I suppose. So far matching the top plates so the pipe can pass through squarely has been one of the more challenging elements. Big thanks to Tom and Frank for selling me some rockwool insulation. Worked like a charm and there was very little waste. Keep an eye out I'll be using a set of their 8" dampers for my intakes.

It's s slow process but just about got the firebox finished up. Got hinges put on the fire door and fit it up. Also got a chance to lay out the intake dampers Frank and Tom were so kind to send me. They work like a charm . I took a bunch of pics so people could see the process of laying them out and how to cut them out.

Nice job on those air intakes. Like your handles as well. Creative.

Thanks guys... I was pretty proud of those torch cuts. I can't take too much credit for the handles they are some spring handles for gates I found premade at the steel yard.

Got started on the trailer today. 5x10' made of 2x4x11ga tubing. My dad came up with a really good idea on mounting the smoker to the trailer. Going to take some good ole fashioned figurin but I think it will be awesome. Anyways just a few pics to share till I get more done tomorrow. Going to try and get the trailer built without the cooker mounted so I can do a two color paint job like Frank's Mack build.

Looking good. Very interesting trailer build. I'll be keeping tabs on this build.

Just more trailer stuff nothing too fancy. That's the tongue stub.... there's a 2 7/8 drill stem pipe that slips over that to make a removable tongue. Also yes that little plate near the back of the pipe is to fix a screw up.... when I notched the pipe around the frame railed I had a 1/4" gap at the back notch.... little filler plate looked better than a bunch of filet welds stacked on each other.

Looking great.

And I wouldn't have noticed the screw up if you hadn't pointed it out.

Looked like it belonged... That's good welding I guess. The art of making stuffups look like they were part of the original design.
